The Little League World Series
Author’s Note: I am writing this piece because we have write about our project after we finish our product on the Little League World Series. I am focusing on my introduction because I always score low on this topic.
The Little League World Series started 65 years ago in 1947. That was the year that the great basketball player, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, was born. Since the Little League World Series was born so long ago, there have been a lot of things that have happened since then. There have also been a great number of things that have happened to the Little League World Series’ history. Obviously the Little League World Series has great business because they have and average income of 30 million dollars a year. I think everyone should watch the Little League World Series because you can watch 11 and 12 year olds develop, and then college scouts could see who's the best player and they could get a scholarship for baseball.
The Little League World Series had been around for 65 years. Did you know that? If you didn’t know that, you’ve probably never thought about it or if you knew that already, then you probably know most of the history behind the Little League World Series. In the first tournament, Williamsport, PA won 16-7 over Lock Haven. The Little League World Series was actually only for US teams until 1950 when the international teams joined the Little League World Series. It didn’t take long for an international team to win the tournament, a team from Monterey, Mexico won in 1957. There isn’t that much history behind the Little League World Series, but that was some of it.
The countries that go to the Little League World Series are often affected in a good way by the Little League World Series. Many countries watch the games on TV instead of going to Williamsport, PA because the plane tickets probably cost a lot of money. The kids also enjoy the tournament because they make friendships with kids from other countries that usually last even when the Little League World Series is over. They make their friendships in the clubhouse that has foosball, ping pong tables, and more. I think it'd be awesome if I could go to the Little League World Series and make friendships that would last forever.
When I first thought about the Little League World Series, I thought they would get a ton of money because it's such a nice facility and fields. They earn 30 million dollars a year like I said I said before and they earn it in multiple different ways. One way is because they have 16 sponsors! I'm not sure what the sponsors are but I'm sure they are all a big part of the 30 million dollar income. During the All-stars tournament (which is the tournament that you have to win to be in the Little League World Series) each tournament has to donate $150 so they can have a team go into the Little League World Series. The concessions are also cheap. It only costs on average $20 per family of four so I think that’s really cheap. There are also no tickets until the last 3 games and those tickets are free you just have to enter your name into a drawing and hope for the best that you get a ticket. I was surprised that the Little League World Series only gets an income of the 30 million dollars even though that's a lot of money I thought they would get more.
There hasn’t been a ton of history behind the Little League World Series but there has been some such as when it was first played and what team was the first to win the tournament as an international team. I would also love to play in the Little League World Series because I would make friendships that would last forever. It would be amazing if I could go to the tournament because I could eat a lot of food for not that much money. If you don’t watch the Little League World Series I recommend you do so because they are very entertaining games.
