Response to Literature

Author's Note: I am writing this piece because we have to write a response to a book we were reading. In this piece I am focusing on sentence fluency and my introduction.

In the support group that I am in, we are reading a book called H.I.V.E. It is about a kid and his friend that get kidnapped when they are asleep. When they wake up, they are in a helicopter and they are wondering where they are. Suddenly they see a huge volcano right underneath them. After about 15 minutes the pilot tells them where they are and what they are doing. Next they land right next to the volcano and see that there is a gigantic building with a ton of people in it.

If I was the main character I would have been very scared if I was kidnapped and then taken on to a helicopter. One of the reasons I would be scared is because the people in the helicopter could have weapons and they could kill you if you did not listen to them. I would also be scared because I would not know where my parents are and they would probably wonder where I am. Lastly, I would be scared because if the helicopter ran out of fuel right on top of the volcano I would burn to death and that’s the worst way to die. I hope this will never happen to me.

Once we were about 1/4 of the way done, we had a support group vote on if we should finish reading the book. It was 3-2 in favor of not reading the book. I was one of the people who didn't want to read the book for a few reasons. First of all I didn't really want to read the book because I am usually only interested in sports books and not kid-napping books. Another reason was because at the beginning of the year, our support group had a vote to see if we should have a support group book. I didn't really care, but if we were going to have a book I wanted it to have something to do with sports.

I would certainly recommend this book but it just didn't interest me that much. Kyle our support group leader thought it was a good book so he would recommend it too. I think it was an okay book but it wasn't about sports so I didn't really like it.
