Wisconsin Badger Soccer Camp

Fall DWA

Author’s Note: I wrote this piece for our Fall DWA. In this piece I will focus on my conclusion paragraph and the intro paragraph.

Visualize yourself walking on to the newly laid turf on Camp Randall, home of the Wisconsin Badgers! Last summer my friends and I from my soccer team went to a Wisconsin Badger soccer camp. The soccer camp had a lot of exceptionally skilled soccer players including one that played overseas in Europe. On the ride up to Madison, no one expected this camp to be the best overnight soccer camp ever.

There was only one not so good thing about the camp, it was the dreadful walk to get to the fields! The walks were nearly a mile to get to the practice fields. During one of the walks, my friend and I were walking ahead of one of our other friends from Pewaukee. Then we noticed a kid was eating peanut butter right next to us but luckily Ryan, our other friend from Pewaukee, wasn’t there. You might wonder why it’s such a big deal, but Ryan is seriously allergic to peanut butter and could die if he smells, touches, or eats it. Luckily, again Ryan never saw the peanut butter so everything turned out fine. While all of the players walked a mile, the coaches got to ride their mopeds and bikes! That wasn’t all that fair but in conclusion, the camp was the best!

While there was only one miserable thing, there were a countless number of positive things. One of the best parts of the camp was that we got to stay overnight for three nights in the UW Madison dorms. All of the kids at the camp had the choice to buy a pizza that they would order at night too. Another positive part of the camp is that we got to play soccer from almost 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a few breaks in between to eat lunch and dinner. Not to mention that all three meals were huge buffets and it was free!

The greatest part about the camp was going to Camp Randall to play soccer at! Not to mention we played soccer on the field a week after they laid the turf. When we were there, we played a huge tournament of soccer tennis. Soccer tennis is a game where there are three people on each side of a net and you try to volley the ball back in forth like volleyball, but with your feet and head. Playing soccer at Camp Randall was a once in a lifetime chance!

In conclusion, this soccer camp was the greatest soccer camp but I am just lucky to go because it was very expensive. The walks might not have been the best thing in the world but everything turned out just fine or better because of the rest of the camp. This adventure changed my opinion on how good soccer camps can be!
