Author's Note: I wrote this piece because I wanted to respond to a big moment in college basketball this year.

“Coming out of the timeout break, North Carolina will have the ball at half with 4.9 seconds left to go in the second half”, says Dick Vitale.

“Kentucky is playing denial defense. Will Harrison Barnes get the ball in on time?”

The referee is counting down from five. Harrison Barnes is thinking five, four, three, two...I need to get rid of the ball.

“Timeout” screams Harrison Barnes.

“And that is North Carolina’s last timeout” says Dick Vitale

Harrison Barnes gets the ball back from the referee and slaps the ball waiting for the inbounds play to start. John Henson breaks left toward the hoop. Tyler Zeller checks to the ball. Kendall Marshall breaks right and Barnes quickly throws him the ball. Marshall dribbles the ball up.

“Kendall Marshall needs to find a way to get through Kentucky’s defense. Time is running out.” screams Vitale.

Four, three, Marshall crosses over and dishes the ball to John Henson. Henson is guarded by Anthony Davis.

“This is going to be hard to get the shot off. John Henson dribbles the ball forward once. He brings the ball up to his shoulders to get the ball off. He shoots…”

“And it’s blocked by Anthony Davis to win the game!”Yells Dick Vitale.

“This game is over, number one Kentucky will stay undefeated and remain the first in the nation!”

Kentucky ended up losing their next game at the hands of Indiana who were 8-0 when the game started. Now Kentucky is ranked number one in the nation once again because the Syracuse Orangemen lost to Notre Dame a few days ago.
