Author’s Note: This
letter is to the men who created America and gave us our freedom. Although they
did a great job, I think that they could have done a little bit better.
Dear Founding Fathers,
I cannot thank you enough for everything that you have done.
You’ve helped everybody that has lived in the United States since you inscribed
the Bill of Rights, which gave people the freedom of speech, religion, and more.
Although I can’t thank you enough, there is something that I would tell you if
I were alive during your time. It would have something to do with all men being
created equally.
“We hold these truths
to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by
their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” In this quote, taken from the
Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers stated that all men are
created equal. I think that you guys should have said, everyone is created
equal for a few reasons. First of all, women could have taken this the wrong
way and thought that they were less important than men. Except, everybody is
created equally including men and women. Another reason why I think this should
have been stated differently was because if you would have said everyone, then
everyone including women might have been able to vote before 1920. Finally,
some women were even brighter than other men yet men were considered more
important than women. Some of the women were smarter because they invented
things ,or just had more knowledge about things because it got passed down by
family members. Clearly, you guys should have taken women into consideration
and wrote that everybody was created equally.
I might be a man writing for women but everybody was created
equally. The Founding Fathers did a superb job on creating our country and
obtaining our freedom. You might have made a few mistakes here and there but
overall, I can’t thank you enough!
