Lies

Author's Note: I wrote this piece for a cause and effect piece for language arts class. I focused on my intro paragraph.

Picture yourself stuck in the smallest house in the city and lying to everybody in your new school, neighborhood, and pretty much everyone you talk to. Zach, his sister, and his mom find themselves stuck in the small town on Elko, Nevada after their Dad gets them in the middle of his own problem. It was a shame that Zach’s Dad caused a problem for his whole family. Along the way while I read the book, I made a text to text connection about when I read another book and a kid got in very big trouble for telling a lie. Just like how Zach lied a ton in the book. The cause and effect in this book ends up deadly for Zach and his family.

The climax of the story came when Zach was cleaning up and painting Sam’s building that was a dump for a long time. He left his backpack on a table while he left for a little bit, then Peter walked in and stole his Dad’s journal that was in it. Peter looked through the pages and soon found out that Zach’s real name was Jack Osborne. While all of this was happening, Zach’s Mom sent a postcard to their Dad to let them know that they were okay but of course on of Alonzo’s men find the postcard before anyone else. The postcard also had the mailing address so then they could find out exactly where the Granger’s  were located. This was the climax of the book because it is the turning point of the story. Zach and his family were in trouble and there was no way to go backwards in life.

This effected Zach and his family for the rest of his life in many ways. One of the ways it affected him and his family is that they would never be able to contact their old friends or hangout with them. I would not be able to live like Zach because I have made many friends and I don’t make friends very well. Another reason how this affected his life was good and bad. The good was that he made new friends and had a decent relationship with new kids from his school, but the disadvantage was that he had to move away from his new best friends, because Alonzo found them in Elko, Nevada. This effected Zach and his family majorly in their lives.

After I envisioned myself living in the smallest house in the world, and lying to everybody I meet, I really wish this doesn’t happen to me. If this ended up happening to me, I would be very frustrated and probably wouldn’t make any friends. While Zach’s Dad caused this horrific tragedy, I was relieved when no one got hurt in effect of the problem.
