Author’s Note: In this
two paragraph conflict and resolution piece, I focused on vocabulary and
description of things that happened in the book.
Paint a picture in your mind, going to the one and only NCAA
Men’s Final Four. Stevie and Susan, two teenage writers, arrive in New Orleans
to cover and write about the Men’s basketball Final Four. This would be a dream
for any teenager who has a passion for basketball. Arriving in New Orleans and
writing about it would be great in all but the teenagers run into problems
while they are there. The biggest conflict in the story was when Stevie and
Susan found out that there was a man blackmailing the players.
In the Last Shot, there were many conflicts that
would sometimes drive Susan and Stevie crazy but the biggest one stood out to
me. The most impacting conflict in the book was when Stevie and Susan found out
that there was a blackmailer telling the players to throw the game and
purposely lose. I made a text to world connection when I found out that there was blackmailer. I connected this part of the book to cyber bullying everywhere because they are related in horrible ways. This conflict is an example of person vs. person because the
teenagers were trying to figure out the blackmailer. There is also some person
vs. self because Stevie has to keep the information confidential. This might
have been hard for Stevie to not tell anyone except the people that already
knew about it. Even though Stevie and Susan had to go through some tough
conflicts like figuring out who the blackmailer was and not being able to tell
anyone about the blackmailer, all the problems were resolved by Stevie and Susan
finding the blackmailer.
